We are pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting for a Seasonal Ranger for the 2022 season.
The job description is as follows... • To assist the Head Ranger with the operation of all activities in the Broad • This includes, but is not limited to: o Collecting mooring fees o Hiring canoes and kayaks, including giving safety briefs, fitting buoyancy aids, launching canoes, cleaning canoes and filling out paperwork o Using an online booking system to check people in for canoes / kayaks / campsite. o Monitoring the campsite, including selling firewood and keeping the facilities clean. o Collecting mooring fees (using a boat to collect the river mooring fees) o Operating the rescue boat for canoes and kayaks (Powerboat Level 2 an advantage, otherwise training will be given). o Taking payments, issuing receipts and handling money • General maintenance of the Broad, including o Minor repairs o Keeping paths clear of vegetation o Collecting litter, emptying bins and dog waste bins o Keeping the whole site clean and tidy, including cleaning toilets o Ensuring all health and safety standards are met, by being aware of: Trip / slip hazards Tree and water hazards • Abiding by all health and safety policies, and Salhouse Broad policies o Being aware of Risk Assessments, Lone Worker Policies, Emergency Plans, and any other documentation regarding health and safety o Acting as a Buddy to Lone Workers o Keep records of daily and weekly checks, and record any incidents • Assisting in conservation and supervising volunteers when necessary • Take bookings and answer inquiries over the phone • Any other jobs given you by the Ranger on Duty / Manager The applicant must be a great team worker, but be happy working alone and on own initiative. Experience a plus, but a keen interest and desire to learn is enough. Must be available April to end of October, able to work weekends and available for 3 -4 days per week (more so at the beginning and end of the season). The position meets national minimum wage.
