The Friends of Salhouse Broad (FoSB) is a community organisation that works to help conserve and enrich Salhouse Broad, and to promote a sense of custodianship within the local community. They provide a contact point between the community and the Ranger, and are a forum to share ideas and direct the vision for Salhouse Broad. There are meetings held in Salhouse throughout the year, with an AGM in March.
As a volunteer you do not have to join FoSB, but it is free to join and carries a range of benefits.
Some of the activities FoSB help with are:
Providing a voluntary Ranger service helping to maintain Salhouse Broad
Fundraising for the Broad, through running events (like the annual Easter Egg and Halloween Horror Hunt), or applying for grants and sponsorship
Undertaking conservation tasks such as tree planting, scrub removal, sedge bed raking, bracken and Himalayan balsam pulling
Improve educational and recreational value of area, through events, guided walks and fun days
Work with Salhouse Broad staff and partner organisations to co-ordinate planning and service provision at the broad
