Have a question to ask about Salhouse Broad? Read our Frequently Asked Questions below to see if your enquiry has been answered and be sure to contact us if you can't find what you're looking for.
Can I pre-book a boat mooring? Boat moorings can only be pre-booked for 6 or more boats and not in July or August. If you have a single boat to moor, just turn up and take any space available. Please note in peak season boat moorings can fill up, so arriving before 3pm is a good idea. If you arrive later, there's always a good chance you could still get a space on our island and river moorings. Contact us to book for 6 boats or more.
Can I use a disposable BBQ on site? We do not allow disposable BBQ's on site, but you may bring a BBQ that is raised off the ground - you must take everything home with you though and we do not have a facility to empty hot coals/embers, so make sure you plan well. Do not dispose of coals in the bushes or light BBQ's on benches or boardwalks.
Are there toilets on site? There are public toilets at the car park on Lower Street, please note these are a 10 minute walk from the Broad itself.
Is the site dog friendly? Yes, the site is dog friendly, we just ask that when walking your dog, clear up after it and use the dog poo bins on site. If your dog does not have good recall or if it is likely to chase wildfowl, it should always be walked on a lead. Keep your dog under close control at all times and put your dog on a lead if asked at any time by a Ranger on duty.
Is Salhouse Broad free to access? Yes, Salhouse Broad is free to access at all times. There is a charge for car parking, but no fee to enter. Enter on foot and get 10% off canoe hire and camping.
Can I swim in the Broad? Swimming is not permitted at Salhouse Broad. There are boats regularly moving about and many submerged hazards, that make swimming here unsafe. If in doubt, please speak to a Ranger on site.
How many people can fit in a canoe? Up to 3 adults can fit in one of our Canadian Canoes. It's possible that 2 adults and 2 small children can fit, you can always check before booking on 01603 722232.
Can I take my dog in a canoe or on a kayak? We don't recommend taking a dog in a canoe as you're more likely to capsize, however, you may do so at your own risk. There is not enough space in a sit on top kayak to take a dog, so this is only an option for our Canadian Canoes.
How many people can fit in a kayak? One person - these are sit on top kayaks.

Is there a play area for children? We have a play area that was installed by CAPco, it features a climbing net, high walkway, climbing wall, slide and monkey bars.
Is Salhouse Broad wheelchair friendly? Unfortunately, Salhouse Broad isn't great for wheelchair users, while our board walks are wide enough, the paths are rough and uneven in places and there is shingle along the edge of the moorings. We are seeking funding to improve access, as we would love for Salhouse Broad to be accessible for all.
